Event Details
During our weekly meetings, we will practice sitting meditation (zazen) and walking meditation (kinhin), ending with a discussion of important components of Zen as illustrated in selected readings. Although Zen Meditation has no ostensible goals beyond learning to be present to what is, the long-term effects of this powerful practice can be increased calm, the development of greater compassion, and the discovery of and alignment with our authentic selves. All of these can support greater long-term health, well-being, and growth.
Registration is required.
Beginning meditators as well as those new to Zen are welcome! Please let us know if you are new to zen meditation so we can arrange a time before the meeting so Celeste can introduce you to the practice.
Celeste Calabotta has facilitated prayer and meditation groups, both in person and online, for over 15 years. A certified Spiritual Director engaged in spiritual accompaniment for over 12 years, she began practicing Zen Meditation 3 years ago as part of a Christian Zen Retreat facilitated by Roshi Robert Kennedy, the first American priest to receive the designation “Roshi,” or “Master.” Her attraction to Zen Meditation reflects her deep commitment to interspirituality.
