About the exhibit:
“I approach the canvas head-on, usually with just a vague idea of what I want to do. My paintings are really an unscripted exploration of my inner self, one that helps keep me sane. Sometimes my pieces can be dark, depending on my mood, but I always hope to inspire and connect with those who see them. I want to create something that captures the viewer's attention and matters to them personally. I draw inspiration from the impressionists, particularly Monet and Van Gogh, but I feel my style is uniquely my own. Over time, I have developed a deeper understanding of color and how it can be used to create emotion and meaning, but as an artist, I never know how my work will affect others. Anytime someone responds to my paintings, it is a wonderful feeling and I am grateful for the opportunity to connect with them through my art. For that reason and so many others I am thrilled to share my upcoming exhibition at the Henry Carter Hull Library with the community.”—Larry Freibauer
About the artist:
Larry Freibauer is a self-taught artist and half-owner of Andie’s Cookies with his wife Andrea. His preferred medium is acrylic paint on canvas, sometimes incorporating watercolor or mixed media into his pieces. Larry's expressive and inwardly reflective paintings have been featured in local cafes and boutiques. He approaches his work with a stream-of-consciousness style, informed by an intuitive understanding of color and inspired by the impressionists, particularly Monet and Van Gogh. A long-time resident of Killingworth, Connecticut, his upcoming exhibition at the Henry Carter Hull Library library is an opportunity for him to share his unique style and connect with others in the community through his art.
