Join Ashley Hunt, owner of ARC_Amphibian_Reptile_Center, for a fun and educational program all about Axolotls! Ashley will bring a few of her rescued Axolotls and teach us about the importance of proper amphibian & reptile husbandry. Reptile husbandry encompasses the practices and knowledge required to properly care for reptiles in captivity. We will end the program with an Axolotl craft and coloring sheets.
For Kindergarten-4th grade. REGISTRATION REQUIRED!
This program will be held in The Hub. Due to space limitations, this program is just for children. Families will be invited in at the end of the program to see the Axolotls.
Ashley is also the Husbandry Director at LibertyLand, a New England based Axolotl rescue. Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome with proper education to set owner and axolotl up for success. They are a proper registered 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare rescue and we have placed well over 150 and more axolotls this year. They have been an established rescue almost a year now and have changed so many lives with proper education and rescue work.
A note from Ashley: We get asked this question frequently and we just want to address it.
Do we or will we ever sell animals?
The answer is no.
We are an educational husbandry shop (work in progress). We do not believe selling animals is in our best interest. Our goal is to teach people of all ages the proper care for reptiles and amphibians and set both owner and pet up for success. We do not want to give into the impulse buying or have problems arise in the future with needing proof of set up before purchase. (You'd be surprised how many people this ticks off).
BUT, what we will be doing is helping promote very well established and reputable breeders and licensed, reputable rescue organizations. With that said, we hope to have many relationships with many different people in the future.
Keeping close to others in a community can help rise up an even better, healthy community who puts education, health, and relationships with customers at the top. We need more of this. It's time for change.
