About the artists:

Mary Toni: “My brother and I decided it would be fun to display our art side-by- side for the sake of comparing a new artist (myself) with a very practiced artist from the same gene pool. I live in Clinton and have been painting for three years, having taken a couple of on-line courses in oil painting during the pandemic. Now I am having a great time with this new hobby, painting subjects from the natural world, primarily birds and shells. Deciding to exhibit my work so early in the game is a bit intimidating but an artistic cousin of mine passed along some advice from Andy Warhol that I have taken to heart.”

“Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it is good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.”—Andy Warhol

Edward Brosofske: “As a little brother I have always admired my sister’s ability to draw and appreciated the talent to create art on paper. I remember my introduction to “silly putty” as a child and loved reproducing the Sunday morning comics. This was my first introduction to the world of illustration and appreciation of the arts. My next introduction was the exposure to the comic books of the early 1970’s . Especially significant is the horror genre with its dynamic details of facial and bodily compositions. This is still significant in my drawings today. By the time I arrived in high school I was accepted into the fine arts program. I received a scholarship to Philadelphia College of Art and began further studies of illustration. The years proceeded to freelance illustration and gallery exhibitions. The art world was also revealed to me with the talent of my cousins who specialize in the medium’s of tapestry, wood sculptures and photography. My sister prefers the medium of oil painting. I prefer pencil. Pencil allows for precision and control.”
