Event Details

Join us for a "ripped from the headlines" discussion of the award-winning New York Times bestseller,  The Family Roe: An American Story by Joshua Prager.   As some states pass some of the harshest abortion laws of all time and as we await a decision by the Supreme Court, this book couldn’t arrive at a more timely moment.  Journalist Joshua Prager spent hundreds of hours over a ten year period with Norma, discovered her personal papers―a previously unseen trove―and witnessed her final moments. For the first time The Family Roe presents her life in full. Propelled by the crosscurrents of sex and religion, gender and class, it is a life that tells the story of abortion in America. As the United States spirals into a crisis over access to abortion, Prager’s book provides a provocative look at Roe v. Wade, challenging us to rethink what we know about the case.

Books are available at The Henry Carter Hull library or by reserving at hchlibrary.org. We always welcome new readers to our amazing group. Registration, preferred, but not required.
