CLCT Annual Meeting
Wednesday 10/22 @ 6:30 pm
The Clinton Land Conservation Trust cordially invites you to our Annual Meeting on Wednesday October 22nd, at 6:30 pm, to be held at the Henry Carter Hull Library on Killingworth Turnpike in Clinton, CT. This meeting offers a chance for the community to discover more about the CLCT's mission, celebrate the accomplishments of the past year, alongside the election of our officers and directors.
All welcome, no registration. Light refreshments will be served!
The business segment of the meeting will be followed by a presentation by Steve Gepherd who will discuss the Upper Mill Pond Dam, Indian River Fishway Construction Project.
Steve, formerly a fisheries biologist with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, now works as an independent consultant specializing in the removal of dams and the construction of fish ladders to restore aquatic ecosystems. In his talk, he will discuss the design and construction of a fishway on the Upper Mill Pond Dam located on the Indian River near Big Y, right here in our town. He will explain how this particular dam obstructs migratory fish from accessing upstream freshwater habitats necessary for spawning. Additionally, he will describe how removing or modifying this barrier can benefit numerous animal species and significantly enhance the overall health, biodiversity, and ecological balance of the entire watershed.
