Event Details

Stop by through the month of April during library hours to enjoy Celebrating Clinton’s Exceptional Student Artists: Morgan National Art Honors Society, presented in collaboration with Jessica Leiss, Art Teacher at The Morgan School. Guests who visit the exhibit will also have the opportunity to engage with the artwork in a unique way; through poetry. In recognition of National Poetry Month (an annual celebration of prose created by the Academy of American Poets in 1996) the art will be paired with classic and contemporary poetry, inviting visitors to enjoy the works on a deeper level.

More About The Morgan School Art Program & Morgan National Art Honors Society, from Art Teacher Jessica Leiss:

At The Morgan School, the art curriculum is designed to help students understand and appreciate the importance of art in our culture. A sequential program of instruction is offered to provide students with a solid foundation in the elements and principles of art. Students explore a wide range of media and techniques when they take classes in drawing & painting, sculpture and jewelry design & metalsmithing.

At the beginning of the school year, Morgan opened a new chapter of National Art Honors Society for students who excel at visual arts and academics. National Art Honor Society programs provide national recognition and opportunities for students who exhibit outstanding talent in the visual arts, and for their teachers. Participation in NAHS provides students, faculty, school, and community with invaluable benefits—including peer recognition, leadership growth opportunities, college and career preparation, and involvement in the community. This year, students hand-painted wooden holiday ornaments and sold them to raise funds to purchase NAHS t-shirts. Students are extremely excited to present their personal artwork to the community at their art show in Henry Carter Hull Library.
